If every church understood this simple fact about communications, more people would be responding and getting involved:

The more you announce, the less they listen.

And I get it - it’s the ultimate paradox. “If we can’t talk about it, how are they gonna know about it?”

In the final three months of last year, my church had close to 500 events.

Now do you think we’re doing 45 announcements per week from stage on Sunday?

Of course not!

And every person understands that that would be impossible.

What most people don’t know, is really how few announcements you actually should be sharing in service.

How many? Three or fewer.

And when you achieve that - believe me, attention in service is stronger.

And when you have that attention and you lead with inspiration, not information, people respond.

As soon as you feel like you've got a handle on things, big changes arrive.

Today, we're not talking about getting better or worse at social media. The game itself changed.
