Here’s how it works:
Take a few core elements from your church's base branding
Remix it with your favorite current design trends
Create a new series of design assets to use churchwide for the next season
Below, you’ll see my church’s brand curve for 2023. Last year, we went for a clean, flat design look. Our primary blue brand color was joined by new supplementary colors.
My Church’s 2023 Brand Curve
With this year’s brand curve, we went in a grungier direction. High-contrast text. More texture. A heavier focus on photography. And a monochromatic color palette with just our base blue.
My Church’s 2024 Brand Curve
What’s the point of this? To inject new life into your brand.
Think of it this way:
If you walk into a Starbucks right now (during the Christmas season), you’ll see a lot of the color red.
Is red part of Starbucks’ base brand? No.
But on the Starbucks brand site, you’ll find the following section: Expressive Colors.
With this description: “Expressive color is informed by and evolves with seasonal trends.”
This is a Brand Curve:
The base brand intersects with trends to create a novel expression.
