Hey, it’s Brady,
In the old model, social felt relatively predictable. Consistency bread consistency.
You could post regularly and see regular returns.
The new model: Algorithmic lottery.
The platforms decide which content gets pushed to discovery and which stays in your bubble - which creates massive swings.
So what do we do?
We've been conditioned to interpret low numbers as failure. (at least I have 😅)
That's applying old rules to a new game.
Here’s the key: Stop evaluating posts in isolation.
Look at 30-day rolling averages instead of post-by-post.
Because the volatility isn't going away. Here’s what’s required:
1-3 posts per week as the baseline (“No Weeks Off” still applies)
Recent content always visible
Pinned posts and Highlights targeting people checking out your church
What’s NOT required:
Posting every day (unless you want to)
Chasing viral moments (they’ll happen, or they won’t)
Obsessing over view counts
Completely reinventing your content strategy every time the algorithm shifts
Things Growing Churches Do Differently
Church podcasting has changed a lot in the last few years.I’ve been part of growing churches most of my adult life - as a volunteer, on staff, and in the pews. What I’ve noticed is this: the difference between growing and stagnant churches isn’t what you’d expect.
Thanks as always for your time, attention, and trust. Talk to you next Thursday. - Brady Shearer
