Hey, it’s Brady,

In the old model, social felt relatively predictable. Consistency bread consistency.
You could post regularly and see regular returns.

The new model: Algorithmic lottery.

The platforms decide which content gets pushed to discovery and which stays in your bubble - which creates massive swings.

So what do we do?

We've been conditioned to interpret low numbers as failure. (at least I have 😅)

That's applying old rules to a new game.

Here’s the key: Stop evaluating posts in isolation.

Look at 30-day rolling averages instead of post-by-post.

Because the volatility isn't going away. Here’s what’s required:

  • 1-3 posts per week as the baseline (“No Weeks Off” still applies)

  • Recent content always visible

  • Pinned posts and Highlights targeting people checking out your church

What’s NOT required:

  • Posting every day (unless you want to)

  • Chasing viral moments (they’ll happen, or they won’t)

  • Obsessing over view counts

  • Completely reinventing your content strategy every time the algorithm shifts

Things Growing Churches Do Differently

Church podcasting has changed a lot in the last few years.I’ve been part of growing churches most of my adult life - as a volunteer, on staff, and in the pews. What I’ve noticed is this: the difference between growing and stagnant churches isn’t what you’d expect.

Thanks as always for your time, attention, and trust. Talk to you next Thursday. - Brady Shearer
